Position Description

Position Summary

To provide coordination of IT security policies and procedures that govern access to College computing resources, and to promote security awareness and compliance within the college community. Work with groups within IT that are responsible for data integrity and its maintenance, as well as user accounts and physical security of IT resources.

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree with coursework in information systems. Professional certification(s) or willingness to pursue certification(s) in related security areas.

Experience Required

Two years of experience in IT security planning or monitoring.

Primary Duties

1. Coordinate the development and documentation of information security policies, standards and procedures for faculty, staff and students. Co-Chair the Information Security and Data Standards Committee.
2. Collaborate with the VP and IT Directors in evaluating and developing an annual program of testing network, mobile and data security protocols and procedures.
3. Collaborate with Network Services in monitoring intrusion detection/firewall activity.
4. Keep abreast of latest security and privacy legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities pertaining to the mission of the College and that College policies comply.
5. Collaborate in the development and testing of an annual disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
6. Monitor campus community compliance with information security policies.
7. Participate in security investigations and violations and recommend improvements and corrections to current policy or procedures.
8. Develop and deliver training on information security and privacy for employees and students as needed.
9. Coordinate data retention and data destruction activities on campus.
10. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties

1. Coordinate projects within ITS as assigned. This may include working with vendors, ITS staff and end users to manage meetings, timelines and deliverables related to IT security policies and procedures.
2. Participate in meetings and campus committees as appropriate.
3. Other duties as assigned.
