Position Description

Position Summary

This is a part-time student position responsible for assisting and supporting the teacher in the classroom with implementing, and managing a developmental program for young children in accordance with the Center’s stated mission and policies.

Major Preferred

Education, HDFS, Social Sciences

Experience Required

Must be able to qualify as an Assistant Group Supervisor (AGS). To qualify for AGS, you must meet one of the following criterion:
• A high school diploma and 30 credit hours from an an accredited college in Education, Child Development, HDFS, Psychology, or Social Work * A high school diploma and 15 approved college credits plus 1250 documented hours of related experience, or * A high school diploma and 2500 documented hours of related work experience

Skills, Characteristics Required for Position

Must possess the ability to positively and effectively communicate and interact with young children, parents, and co-workers in order to develop and maintain a high quality early childhood program in accordance with the mission and vision of the Early Learning Center.
Will be required to provide Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Records Check/State Police Clearance, FBI Clearance, current Health Assessment and TB test.

Dress Code Requirements

Teaching staff must dress in casual business attire.

Special Working Conditions

Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Primary Duties

1. Care for children in a classroom setting including: establishing and enforcing rules for behavior, observing the children and leading activities to promote cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development.
2. Assist with appropriate activities and materials related to the children’s interests, needs and developmental level in accordance with National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation standards to maintain the health, safety, and welfare of children.
3. Provide parents of enrolled children with regular feedback and insight concerning their child.
4. Maintain classroom appearance and cleanliness.
5. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Other duties as assigned.
