Position Description

Position Summary

This position assists campus community members and visitors of the college with a variety of services while prioritizing incoming phone calls and maintaining contact with department personnel to ensure officer safety. The Dispatcher functions as the point of contact during critical incidents, must adhere to confidentiality expectations, and be professional in conduct and tact.

Education Required

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge/Certifications Required for Position:
CPR/First Aid/AED certification required – must become certified within first 30 days of employment.
Intermediate computer literacy – ability to learn campus software within first 30 days of employment.
Knowledge with the Bosscars Ticketing Program.

1-2 years of Emergency Services field experience

Special Working Conditions

Must have the ability to mentally and physically perform essential job functions which require walking, prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting (40lbs) and endure various weather conditions. Willingness to work different shifts, work weekends and holidays, some mandatory overtime required for special events; submit to Hepatitis B immunization or provide documentation of such. This position is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency closing or delay.

Primary Duties

1. Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all student parking regulations as outlined in the College Traffic Code and assist Falcon Exchange in student parking implementation.
2. Receive, screen, and process incoming calls, including providing directions, taking messages, answering questions, solving problems, and promoting the College.
3. Assist students, staff, and guests with services such as: lost and found, parking questions, directions, telephone numbers, ID cards, and general information.
4. Assist Supervisor with the daily oversight of all general operations at dispatch. Ensure that services and data entry processes are completed in a timely manner.
5. Maintain multiple log sheets, sign out equipment and keys to appropriate personnel. Key distribution and collection of all work study and faculty/staff.
6. Assist Safety officers with writing reports and looking up vehicle, student, and citation information.
7. Identify and route faxes received via centralized computer fax system to faculty/staff. Sign out visitor passes for vendors, prospective students and visitors.
8. Notify proper emergency services, maintenance, resident life and administration when needed. Monitor alarms and cameras and do weekly alarm test for business office.
9. All duties performed by the receptionist when their office isn’t open, including taking all calls coming into the College and disbursement of fleet vehicle keys.
10. Operation of a multi-channel main console radio for campus. Dispatch requests for service and assistance via radio to operation departments.
11. Assist Supervisor with the training of new incoming dispatchers and officers in the duties and responsibilities of the dispatch office.
12. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties

1. Assist other departments as needed.
2. Sort campus mail over Christmas break.
3. Other duties as assigned.
