Position Description

Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics in the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah College invites applications for a part-time/adjunct faculty position.


Teach undergraduate mathematics and/or statistics classes on an as-needed basis in the candidate’s discipline area for mathematics majors, students in other majors, and/or QuEST (general education) curriculum.


Advanced degree or significant experience in the area relevant for the course that will be taught. Candidates must evidence the potential for strong classroom teaching and positive student interaction and mentorship. Messiah College selects its educators for their Christian commitment as well as their proven teaching ability.

The Program

Messiah College’s Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics Department offers the following undergraduate degrees: BA in Mathematics, BA in Mathematics with Secondary Teaching Certification, BA in Physics, BA in Physics with Secondary Teaching Certification, and a minor in Statistics.

The Department

8 full-time faculty members hold degrees from nationally and internationally recognized graduate schools—American University, Lehigh University, Virginia Tech, U. of Florida, U. of Illinois at Chicago, U. of Iowa, Indiana University, and Linköping University. Scholarship and areas of professional interest include pure and applied mathematics, cross-cultural mathematics education, integration of Christian faith and mathematics, statistics education, statistical consulting, and service learning. In addition to serving approximately 50 students in our majors, the department enrolls more than 2500 students in courses annually, including online summer courses.

The College
